Your safety depends on the correct fit of your helmet and proper use of all features and components. In our new video we cover changing the wearing height of your Pacific F15.

You can adjust the headband on the F15 to allow the helmet to sit higher or lower on your head.

There are three adjustment points: Low, Regular & High.

We wish you a Merry Christmas

Seasons Greetings from the staff at Pac Fire

With 2019 at it’s close, the staff at Pac Fire would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and advise you of our holiday shutdown.

Pac Fire will be closing on Friday the 24th December at 12pm – don’t worry we reopen at 8:00am on Monday the 6th January. For urgent matters during our shutdown email urgent@pacfire.com.au or call 0405 330 266.

You can still shop online during the shutdown period, but please note orders will not be processed until our return on 6th January.

2019 has been a pretty big year, check out some of our highlights:
• In January we furthered our commitment to firefighter health and well-being by launching PAC+CARE a state-of-the-art PPE service centre located at our Yatala branch
• Early 2019 saw the award of the Cap Style BR9 to Tas Fire Wildland Firefighters with a rollout spanning 4 years and about 4,000 new helmets.
• Sometimes it’s the little things that make a BIG difference, Pac Fire’s new helmet mounted earmuffs hit the market in February
• Much ado about heat stress – the Blowhard Misting Ring launched in March
• May saw the arrival of “GOOD-BUYS” an online only section devoted to giving some much loved Pac Fire products the farewell they deserve
• The Pacific F15 Structural Firefighting Helmet was awarded to CFA Volunteers in late August with the first helmets being delivered in late October 2019
• In October we announced the arrival two new Blowhard Fans, Quickiee & Commando
• Ho Ho Ho, Pac Fire Online Gift Vouchers landed in December 2019

Pac Fire has a huge 2020 planned and we’re excited to share it with you.

Pac Fire welcomes “Commando” and “Quickee” to the Blowhard range

New Fans from Blowhard - Command and Quickee

Blowhard is an innovative company with a team dedicated to putting the needs of firefighters first. Their core focus is creating solutions that fire services can integrate into their processes to make them more powerful and efficient.

It is this focus that has led to the creation of two new fans – the Commando and the Quickee.

Both new fans utilise positive pressure ventilation (PPV) whereby they remove smoke, heat and other combustion products from a structure during or after a fire. The Blowhard difference is the use of Jet Stream technology rather than the more common “cone” airflow. Jet Stream technology utilises a concentrated, high-pressure “jet stream” dedicated to ventilation which consistently out performs the “cone” model. Basically what this means is you need fewer fans based on “jet stream” technology to ventilate an area – saving valuable space on trucks, time in deployment and money on additional units.

New Fans from Blowhard - Command and Quickee

Weight, shape, size, balance, and carrying options have been major considerations during the design and construction of Commando and Quickee.

Commando gives you the all-in-one power to take on any situation. Pushing the limits of battery technology and fan engineering, BlowHard’s Commando brings unmatched performance with a footprint and weight similar to that of the BH-20. The Commando redefines battery powered PPV with its ability to outperform some petrol driven fans, yet light weight and ergonomic enough to be carried and set up by one person.

The Quickee expands on the technology and benefits introduced in the BH-20. It is engineered to increase performance while taking up less space. BlowHard’s ErgoFold technology has been taken to the next level to create a more powerful, smaller, lighter, more manoeuvrable 508mm fan designed to increase the performance and efficiency of the firefighter.

Both fans incorporate new Blowhard features which include adjustable angle path lighting and battery charge indicators.

Photolume – a low light solution from Pacific Helmets

Photolume - a specialty Paint Finish by Pacific HelmetsPacific Helmets can customise their helmets shell in over 24 different colours – including some specialty paint finishes. One of those speciality finishes is Photolume – a low light solution. Photolume is a light pastel green finish in the light – when working in a dark environment however, it’s a totally different story.

Photoluminescence is effectively “glow-in-the-dark”. The Photolume effect Pacific Helmets with this paint finish comes from light emitting strontium aluminate based pigments mixed in the paint sprayed on the helmets shell.

It works by way of photoexcitation, a process whereby electromagnetic radiation in the form of photons is absorbed by the pigments and electrons are excited to a higher level of energy in the atoms to the point of emitting light. They can be excited by white light or UV radiation between the wavelength of 200 – 450 nm.

The photoluminescent pigments are harmless, not radioactive nor toxic. They do not store excitation energy and therefore wane in light intensity overtime as the energy dissipates, hence they need to be “recharged” which can take place an infinite number of times. The longer is the photoluminescent pigments are excited by a light source the longer the item will glow, with an afterglow time of generally between 6 to 12 hours long with gradual diminishing brightness.

The benefit of a photoluminescent helmet is it doesn’t require an external power source to emit light in the dark. It glows naturally in low light environments as long as it has been under a bright light to “recharge”. Although it’s light intensity is not as high as a torch, it helps in providing conspicuity in a pitch dark environment where no other light sources are not available.

The helmet pictured with Photolume paint is an R6 Dominator (R6V) rescue helmet. Photolume can be applied to most Pacific Helmets model helmets – a surcharge applies to this specialty finish.

Kappler Chemical Suits – CE Marked Styles

Kappler CE Marked Suits - Technical Bulletin

Kappler has made some changes to their range of chemical suits based on a new European regulation relating to personal protective equipment (CE Marked Styles).

The European Commission approved and published Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on PPE which became effective on April 21, 2019. Following the introduction of this regulation, Kappler performed an operational review of existing CE marked suits that were sold in Europe and internationally. The review determined that demand did not support the costs which would be incurred to update test data and certify garments to the new regulation.

As a result, Kappler has made the decision to no longer offer any garments marked to the requirements of the new Regulation.

What does this mean for Pac Fire & our customers?
Kappler does not make or offer a CE certified Level A Vapor suit. It’s important to keep in mind CE certification is a European standard – and does not necessarily translate to Australian Standards.

What products are affected?
Styles CZ5H580 OR and CZ5H581 OR (totally encapsulating Level A suit) has been discontinued by the supplier, Kappler. Once existing stocks have been cleared, Kappler have introduced a new styles, with new features that do not carry the CE mark.

CZ5H582 OR (front entry) and CZ5H583 OR (rear entry) vapour total encapsulating suit will replace the old style. These new styles will be available with some new features which include an expanded visor and knee reinforcements.
