New Video: Product Spotlight – Blowhard Misting Ring

Product Spotlight: Blowhard Misting Ring Video

Heat stress has been shown to be a leading factor cause of injury during fire suppression. With this in mind, Blowhard have created a tool to assist in active cooling – the Blowhard Misting Ring.

The Misting Ring transforms your Blowhard fan into an effective recovery tool that assists in combating heat stress.

The Blowhard Misting Ring fits quickly to the front of Blowhard Fans. When attached to a regular, domestic hose, the Misting Ring creates a super fine “mist” which aids in firefighter recovery by helping to lower the core body temperature after training or an incident.

Watch the misting ring in action in our latest video:

A new tool in the fight against heat stress

New Product: The Blowhard Misting Ring

Blowhard Misting RingFirefighters experience high amounts of physical and mental stress when attending an incident. Environmental factors like extreme heat, humidity or cold contribute to conditions that may have an adverse impact on a firefighters health.

In Australia, heat stress has been highlighted as a leading cause of injury during fire suppression.

Dangers like heat stress can be mitigated with the implementation of a rest and recovery strategy that includes measures like Active Cooling. Active Cooling is the process of using external methods or devices to reduce the bodies elevated core temperature.

With this in mind, Blowhard have created an accessory that aids in Active Cooling. The Misting Ring transforms your Blowhard fan into an effective recovery tool that assists in combating heat stress.

It takes just seconds to fit the Misting Ring to the front of a Blowhard Fan using the super strong, magnetic adaptor. When attached to a regular domestic hose, the 8 low pressure nozzles create a super fine mist which aids in firefighter recovery by helping to lower the core body temperature after training or an incident.

Better protection for vulnerable areas

Bristol NanoFlex Nomex Flash Hood
Bristol NanoFlex Nomex Flash Hood
Bristol NanoFlex Nomex Flash Hood (medium fit) THL 469 (W/m²)

Multiple studies into firefighter health and well-being suggest that the flash hood is the most penetrable piece of protective clothing worn by the firefighter. A particularly troubling finding considering the face and neck have been identified as areas of significant dermal exposure to particulate matter and potential carcinogens.

Particulate matter consists of microscopic solid particles or liquid droplets suspended in the air. The smaller the particles, the deeper they can penetrate into the dermis.

So how do you protect against a threat you can’t see?

Identifying the risk of harmful particulates and the vulnerability of the face and neck have spurred the design and creation of next generation fabric composites that include NanoFlex technology. DuPont™ NanoFlex brings superior breathability and improved thermal protection performance to the mix, while creating a barrier that has been found to be 99.8% successful at filtering harmful particulates. Composites that include NanoFlex technology remained soft resulting in less noise being generated from head movement allowing for greater situational awareness.

Bristol NanoFlex PBI Flash Hood
Bristol NanoFlex PBI Flash Hood (large fit) THL 438 (W/m²)
From these new composites, Bristol’s DuPont™ NanoFlex hoods were born. DuPont™ NanoFlex Flash Hoods are the smartest fire hoods on the market. They provide optimum comfort and protection and assist in mitigating heat stress. Hoods that include NanoFlex technology have been found to filter out up to four times the amount of harmful particulates found on the fire ground when compared to a regular fire hood.

Bristol Uniforms offers a Nomex® /DuPont™ NanoFlex (THL 469 (W/m²)) blend as well as a PBI® / DuPont™ NanoFlex (THL 438 (W/m2²)) option for greater flashover protection. Each hood has a seperate head with sewn on back and front bib. The back of the head ends at the nape of the neck for an improved fit and increased comfort. The 100% red Nomex® thread clearly indicates the outside of the hood for faster donning. The Bristol NanoFlex hood range is available in medium and large for a crown sizes exceeding 57cm.

We are PAC+CARE.

We are PAC+CARE. Specialised PPE/C Managed Services.

“A growing focus on firefighter health and well-being has shone a spotlight on the importance of regular cleaning of PPE/C. Accumulated soiling can reduce thermal and electrical insulation resulting in the PPE/C becoming flammable while contaminants and particulates on PPE/C also negatively impact firefighter health.”

We are PAC+CARE. Specialised PPE/C Managed Services.Australian federal and territory legislation requires fire and emergency services to safeguard the health and safety of their employees at work.

In a continuing commitment to protecting responder health and well being while ensuring longevity of PPE/C, Pac Fire is proud to introduce PAC+CARE. PAC+CARE is a flexible managed service which utilises the latest in laundering technology and includes a state of the art filtration system. Thus ensuring potentially damaging contaminants removed from clothing and equipment whilst protecting the environment.

WHAT SETS PAC+CARE APART?

EFFECTIVE CLEANING During fires, PPE/C can become contaminated with a wide range of chemical, biological and particulate contaminants that are hazardous. If not removed properly, these contaminants could significantly affect personal protection and the PPE/C’s longevity but more importantly, have adverse effects on firefighter health.

At PAC+CARE we target the most prevalent and persistent contaminants in firefighter protective wear, combat these with best practice methodology, state of the art washing and drying technology while utilising the latest chemical inactivation. This yields a significant reduction in contaminant load, mitigating the effects of exposure to firefighters and ensures Service’s PPE/C has a prolonged operational life.

VALIDATING OUR CLEANING PAC+CARE commissions NATA accredited laboratories to assess the efficiency of their laundering process.

This is achieved by sampling test fabric soiled with predetermined contaminants under laboratory conditions and benchmarking these results against a clearly defined performance criteria. Services can be assured that PAC+CARE’s cleaning process is independently verified and certified as being of the highest quality and is continuously being confirmed by internationally recognised organisations.

LAUNDRY FILTRATION SYSTEM PAC+CARE’s filtration system is designed to ensure that contaminants removed from clothing and equipment do not end up in precious water ways. PAC+CARE’s state of the art filtration system treats water to industry-best standard by removing contaminants associated with firefighting while safeguards are in place to mitigate the risk of any environmental impact caused by spill or discharge of effluent. This is all backed by PAC+CARE’s comprehensive testing regime which ensures the filtration systems effectiveness.

BEST PRACTICE INSPECTION Early identification of damage to protective clothing and equipment is essential to preventing degradation and identifying early warning signs that the item is unfit for purpose.

Welcome to the new Pac Fire Website

Welcome to Pac Fire Online

If you’ve visited the Pac Fire website in the last week you may have noticed that it’s been a bit of a construction site.

Pac Fire would like to officially welcome you to our new look website. The aim of the upgrade is to make the site easier to navigate so you can get the information you’re looking for, faster. Our online store has had a huge makeover. The new design features larger product images, more information, videos and downloads – all the information you need in one convenient place.

The new store interface means we can keep you updated with information regarding your order by adding notes and changing the status. You can check on the progress of your order anytime by logging into your account. The downside: the changes to the interface means even if you’ve shopped with us before, you will need to make a fresh account to take advantage of the new features. You can create your new account during checkout or by registering here.

If you forget your login credentials – no problems! Just click on the “forgot password” link and we’ll send you an link so you can generate a new one.

This is only the beginning. In the next few months PACFIRE.COM.AU will continue to grow with more products, more downloads and more videos being added regularly.
