Fire Profi: so comfortable you forget you’re wearing firefighting footwear

Jason Hull swears by his Jolly Fire Profi boots having worn them in a 26-mile marathon, 12-hour Beachy Head Coastal Walk and other charity events.
Fire Profi are pull-on style structural firefighting boots from globally renown footwear manufacturer, Jolly Scarpe. Testament to the boots innovative design, superior safety features and premium comfort, Fire Profi was awarded to the UK Collaborative Framework, servicing nearly 30,000 firefighters, spanning services across the United Kingdom, including London Fire Brigade and Scottish Fire.

Fire Profi have been precision crafted to fit the foot perfectly. Features focus on keeping the foot stable inside the boot while delivering a level of comfort that makes the user almost forget they’re wearing firefighting footwear.

A feeling former UK firefighter, Jason Hull knows only too well. Jason elected to wear his service issued, Jolly Fire Profi boots in a 26-mile (approx. 42km) marathon, rather than the more traditional and accepted option, sports trainers. Why did Jason make this unusual choice? Fire Profi’s Wrap Band System (WBS) secures the foot from the top rather than the heel, ensuring it remains stable in the boot for longer, vastly reducing common foot injuries like friction burns and blisters.

After his positive experience in the marathon Jason opted to wear Fire Profi boots in the 12-hour Beachy Head Coastal Walk skirting the hilly Sussex coastline. Again, Jason was the odd one out but had the last laugh, completing the challenging trek with his feet entirely intact.

Today Jason is a firefighter in the UAE where he still wears his much loved Fire Profi boots on duty and in subsequent charity events, raising much needed funds and awareness for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Change to Nomex® helmet neck protectors

Technical Bulletin - Change to Nomex® Helmet neck Protectors

Due to ongoing availability issues from the supplier, Pacific Helmets is changing the type of Nomex® used to make the neck protectors in select builds of structural firefighting helmet.

What does this mean for Pac Fire & our customers?
Previously Nomex® Neck Protectors were made from 260gsm plain weave fabric, effective immediately they will now be manufactured from a 200gsm Ripstop weave fabric.

The new 200gsm 100% Nomex® fabric has been tested by a third-party independent laboratory and has been found to have the excellent flame retardancy properties expected from Nomex® fabric. The Ripstop weave gives a grid pattern and enhanced tensile strength performance to the material not seen in the previous fabric.

Select models of Pacific Helmets F10 MkV, F11 & F15 structural firefighting helmets.

Premium Bristol XFlex starts it’s journey south

FRNSW XFlex Heads SouthFire & Rescue New South Wales (FRNSW) members are one step closer to donning their new Bristol XFlex ensemble with the arrival of the first 8,000 garments to Pac Fire’s warehousing and distribution facility.

The FRNSW XFlex is Bristol Uniform’s premium lightweight structural firefighting ensemble. Ergonomically designed, the ensemble focuses on delivering maximum comfort for a vast range of male and female body types. FRNSW XFlex has a distinctive sporting style which allows the ensemble to move with the firefighter attracting less resistance resulting in greater flexibility and less energy expenditure.

The FRNSW XFlex outershell, Nomex® 360 by Safety Components, provides vital protection against heat and flame while its unique quick dry moisture management system, GORE® Parallon®, delivers complete balance between breathability and thermal protection.

Pac Fire’s specialised rollout of structural firefighting ensembles to FRNSW includes the allocation of an item to a firefighter on despatch. Allocation involves assigning service information, like garment specifics, date of issue and firefighter information to the unique UHF-RFID chip fitted within the item. This process allows garments to interact with inventory management and laundry systems, tracking physical location and the condition of the item throughout its service life.

The first FRNSW zone will receive their new ensembles, as well as a second pair of Bristol’s Titan PBI® structural firefighting gloves in July 2020.

Pac Fire & Coronavirus COVID-19

Pac Fire and our response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Pac Fire is closely monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19 in Australia and other parts of the world.

We understand that this is a stressful time for all and want to reassure everyone that we are here for you and remain open for business to support our frontline emergency services.

The safety of our customers and staff is our main priority which means we have made some operational changes to ensure everyone’s well-being moving forward:

  • Our showrooms / trade stores located in Yatala (Queensland) and Marleston (South Australia) are closed to the public. We will not accept counter sales or pick ups. Don’t worry though – our courier network is still operating normally and we will be able to ship your orders to you.
  • Our office staff are now working from home where practical. Whilst we do not anticipate any change to the service we offer you, there might be some teething problems during the transition. Please be patient with us during the change.
  • Pac Fire’s warehouse staff and the PAC+CARE service centre staff will continue to ship your orders and care for your PPE. We have implemented a new roster that allows us to maintain social distancing as advised by the Australian Government, protect the health of our staff and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time – together we will get through this new challenge.

The 4-point Chinstrap on an F15 can be removed for laundering and replacement in under 10 minutes.
