Studies into responder health suggest that the flash hood is the most penetrable piece of protective clothing worn by the firefighter, with the face and neck identified as areas of significant dermal exposure to potential carcinogens.

The MSA Bristol Total Protection flash hood has been proven to be 99.8% successful at filtering particulates while remaining lightweight, soft and breathable. Minimal sound is produced through head movement resulting in optimal situational awareness for the firefighter.

  • FABRIC: PBI® and Kevlar® fibres with viscose in a knitted fabric featuring Dupont™ Nomex® Nano Flex particulate barrier fabric – tan in colour.
  • DESIGN: Separate head with sewn on back and front bib. 2 layer – head and bib. Back of head ends at the nape of the neck for improved fit and comfort.
  • CONSTRUCTION: All head and bib seams are sewn with a flat lock stitch.
  • THREAD: 100% Nomex® (red).
  • LABELS: Label heat applied flat to the inside of the hood, identifying country of manufacturer, manufacturer’s name, model name and number, date of manufacture, certification statement, batch number, care instructions, composition, size and unique identifier (barcode) for managed services. Location for wearer to record name and service number..
  • PARTICULATE-BLOCKING EFFICIENCY (0.1 TO 1.0 MICRONS): 99.8%.
